Description of this Brigitte Bardot Poster

In 1940, Babette, a young woman from the provinces, went to London where Lieutenant Gérard de Crécy recruited her as a housekeeper at the Free French Headquarters. Major Fitzpatrick, a British intelligence officer, noticed her striking resemblance to Hilda, the former mistress of General von Arenberg, the German leader of the landing in England. After intensive training, Babette was parachuted into France with Gérard with the aim of kidnapping the general. However, after the parachute drop, unable to find her beloved lieutenant, she decides to take the train to Paris alone.

After a series of adventures, Babette is arrested in a Parisian café by “Papa Schulz,” the head of the Gestapo, who takes her to the Kommandantur, the headquarters of the German occupation forces in Paris. Schulz, also struck by Babette’s extraordinary resemblance to General von Arenberg’s former mistress, arranges a chance meeting between the young Frenchwoman and the general. His goal is for Babette to gain access to the general’s intimate life and provide information to the Gestapo about his activities, as Schulz suspects Arenberg of betraying the Nazi cause. The general immediately succumbs to the charms of his former mistress’s double and takes Babette back to her supposed parents, the Duke and Duchess of Crécy-Lozère, located in the seventh arrondissement of Paris, who are in reality Gérard’s parents. There, Babette finds Gérard and makes him understand that this is the ideal opportunity to kidnap Arenberg and bring him back to London… however, Gestapo agents, acting on the orders of Commander Schulz, have followed them.
