Description of this Freddy Krueger Poster
A Nightmare on Elm Street is a 1985 American supernatural slasher film directed by Jack Sholder and written by David Chaskin. It stars Mark Patton, Kim Myers, Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, and Robert Rusler. It is the second installment in the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. The film follows Jesse Walsh, a teenager who begins having recurring nightmares about Freddy Krueger after moving into Nancy Thompson’s old house from the first film.
Five years after Freddy Krueger’s apparent defeat, the Walsh family moved into Nancy Thompson’s old house. Their teenage son, Jesse, has a nightmare in which he feels stalked by Krueger while driving a school bus. He wakes up and attributes the dream to the unusual warmth in the room. Jesse goes to school with his friend Lisa, in whom he is romantically interested, but is too shy to flirt with her. After getting into a fight with a boy named Grady during gym class, Coach Schneider makes them stay after school, and they become friends. Lisa comes to visit Jesse after school, and they discover Nancy Thompson’s journal in which she describes her nightmares, which are eerily similar to Jesse’s. Small fires occur in the house, culminating in the spontaneous combustion of their pet birds. Jesse’s father accuses him of sabotage. The following night, Jesse has a nightmare in which he encounters Freddy, who asks him to kill for him. The dreams become increasingly intense, and Jesse tries in vain to take various measures to stay awake. He eventually begins wandering the streets at night. One night, Schneider catches him ordering a drink at a gay bar and punishes him by making him run laps at school. After sending Jesse to the showers, Schneider is attacked by an invisible force that drags him into the showers. Jesse disappears in the steam, and Freddy emerges, killing Schneider by slashing his back. Afterward, Jesse is horrified to see the glove on his hand. He is escorted home by the police after being found wandering the streets naked, and his parents begin to suspect Jesse of using drugs or suffering from mental illness. Lisa takes Jesse to an abandoned factory where Freddy Krueger worked, but they find nothing there. The next night, Jesse goes to Lisa’s pool party and kisses her in the cabana, but his body begins to change and he leaves in a panic. He goes to Grady’s house, confesses to killing Schneider, and asks Grady to watch him while he sleeps and to arrest him if he tries to leave. When Grady finally falls asleep, Freddy exits Jesse’s body and kills Grady. Freddy then transforms into Jesse, who finds himself staring at Freddy’s laughing reflection in Grady’s mirror. He runs away before Grady’s parents enter the room. Back at Lisa’s house, Jesse tells her what is happening. Lisa understands that Jesse’s terror gives Freddy his strength, but he cannot stop fearing Jesse and transforms again. Freddy locks Lisa’s parents in their room and attacks her, but realizes he can’t hurt her because of Jesse’s influence. Freddy goes outside and begins slaughtering the partygoers. Lisa’s father appears with a shotgun, but Lisa stops him from shooting Freddy, who escapes in a ball of flames.
Lisa drives to the factory, experiencing sudden nightmares and having to control her fear before confronting Freddy. She begs Jesse to fight Freddy, but his hold is too strong. When Lisa confesses her love for Jesse and kisses Freddy, Jesse begins to fight back. Freddy burns to ashes, from which Jesse emerges.
Later, as Jesse, Lisa, and Lisa’s friend Kerry take the bus to school, Jesse begins to notice similarities to her first nightmare and panics. After Lisa calms Jesse down, Kerry says it’s all over, just before Freddy’s clawed arm pierces her chest. Freddy laughs as the bus drives into the frame, just like in Jesse’s first nightmare.
