Description of this Poster The Animal

The Animal is a 1977 French action film directed by Claude Zidi and starring Jean-Paul Belmondo and Raquel Welch.

Mike Gauché (Jean-Paul Belmondo) is a professional movie stuntman working with his fiancée Jane Gardner (Raquel Welch). However, minutes before their long-planned wedding, they are called to perform a car stunt for a movie, but it doesn’t go well, as a brake problem causes their car to flip, and they end up in the hospital with bruises and broken legs. Exasperated by her fiancé’s behavior, Jane decides to leave. After recovering, Mike is unable to find work in the movie business and is forced to fake mental retardation and invent a family to receive Social Security benefits. One day, his stuntman friend Santos asks him to occasionally cover for his job, which involves dressing like a gorilla to advertise pasta in a supermarket.

Mike’s luck begins to improve when he is offered a high salary to do stunts for effeminate movie star Bruno Ferrari (Jean-Paul Belmondo), to whom he reveals himself to be a dead sound. Ferrari, while filming an action movie, suffers from vertigo and finds himself unable to perform dangerous sequences. Mike doesn’t hesitate to get rid of his new stunt partner in order to replace her with Jane, who is in love with the Count of Saint-Prix (Raymond Gérôme). After hearing the news, Mike goes to the Count’s house while posing as a waiter to propose the offer to Jane. When he learns that the Count has asked to marry Jane, he manually sabotages the dinner and makes Jane promise to make the film.

Desperate to find Jane, Mike poses as Ferrari, who turns out to be gay, to seduce her. However, the young woman is not fooled. Mike must perform a dangerous stunt on the wing of an airplane for an audience of reporters who think they are seeing Ferrari, where his life is saved from the crash by Jane, who is due to marry the Count very soon. Meanwhile, the press discovers that Ferrari does not perform his own stunts.

While the wedding ceremony takes place at the Count’s castle, Mike arrives disguised as a gorilla, scaring the guests with animals from the property, and takes Jane away, who refuses to marry the Count de Saint-Prix, preferring to live her life with Mike.
