Designed by Hugo d’Alési, this vintage advertising poster was originally produced in 1894, and depicts the Fourvière metal tower in Lyon. It is also known by another name, “Paufique Tower,” which was the name of the president who carried out its construction. Measuring 80m tall, it was built near the Fourvière Basilica during the 1894 World’s Fair, allowing for an unprecedented panoramic view of the city. This advertising visual emphasizes the beauty of the view as well as the tower’s grandeur (especially in the medallion where it is clearly exaggerated).
