Description of this Cop or Thug Poster
“Flic ou Voyou” is a 1979 French crime drama film directed by Georges Lautner. The film stars Jean-Paul Belmondo as Stanislas Borowitz, an incorruptible police inspector who goes undercover to dismantle a drug gang.
The story begins with the arrest of a major drug trafficker, Pépé le Moko. However, he is quickly released thanks to corrupt authorities. Stanislas Borowitz then decides to take matters into his own hands and pose as a criminal in order to infiltrate Pépé le Moko’s network and dismantle it from the inside.
Stanislas Borowitz thus becomes Jo Ricci, a ruthless and unscrupulous thug. He befriends Lino, a crook played by Michel Galabru, and manages to gain Pépé le Moko’s trust. However, things get complicated when Stanislas falls in love with Pépé le Moko’s daughter, Nadine, played by Marie Laforêt.
Between action, suspense, and humor, the film offers us a thrilling plot with unexpected twists. The sharp dialogue and colorful characters give the film a light yet dark atmosphere, typical of Lautner’s films. Jean-Paul Belmondo’s performance, which brilliantly embodies the role of Jo Ricci, is also one of the film’s strong points.
“Flic ou Voyou” is a classic of French crime cinema, which was a great success upon its theatrical release. The film made an impression thanks to its gripping plot and offbeat humor, but also thanks to its spectacular action scenes and unforgettable characters.
