Description of this Sierra Torrid Poster
Sierra Torrid is an American western by Don Siegel starring Shirley MacLaine and Clint Eastwood.
Mexico, 1865: Hogan, a taciturn American mercenary, rides alone in the desert on his horse. He saves the nun Sara from three men who wanted to rape her. A friendship develops between Hogan and Sara. Hogan finds Sara attractive, but he respects her vocation as a nun and refrains from making advances toward her. He is surprised, however, by Sara’s use of foul language and her drinking of whiskey. Both are interested in destroying the French garrison in Chihuahua. But while Sara has the freedom of the Mexicans in mind, Hogan is interested in the French’s gold treasure. Hogan has agreed, for a fee, to develop a plan to conquer the garrison for Colonel Beltran, the Juarist commandant. When the two men arrive in the garrison town, Hogan learns that Sara is a prostitute. Since Sara is wanted by the French for her Juarist sympathies, Hogan feigns betrayal to the commandant, allowing them both to enter the garrison. The Mexicans attack the garrison from different directions. Hogan is able to open an underground tunnel for the Mexicans and support the rebels from within. The fort is eventually taken. Hogan steals the gold and makes love to Sara in the bathtub. In the final scene, they both ride off on horseback, Sara wearing a striking red dress and riding a small donkey, foreshadowing the beginning of a relationship that will not be without its problems.
